Our Centre

Teddy Bears Educational Child Care Centre family business was established in 1993. It remains under the same Provider and was relocated to the current site in March 2003. The area at that time had no natural elements. The trees, vines and plants you see today where all added by our centre as we progressed toward quality improvement. The children had a voice in why we added a bridge to jump from into our vast sand pit, rocks to walk around and animals like our chickens (Noodles, Daisy and Flash) to feed and get excited over. Vast majority of our families are enrolled here due to verbal reference from past and present families. Also, families are content to find that many of the educators still work here. We welcome you to join us and become a part of the progression of Teddy Bears.

Wide & diverse learning spaces

Our centre is spread over an acre. Rooms are big and over required regulation size. We have a ‘Cavanbah’ room that is resourced to activate planned small group learning experiences. Outdoors we have a ½ size basketball area that apart from sports, offers lots of fun with a ride on the billy-carts or excitedly running under a parachute. The ‘Dalnan’ garden has been filled with rocks, creepers and bushes. Our centre chickens, much prefer the yard with the green grass, tree shade, digging patches. We have a little fishpond that is home for our goldfish. Our large sandpit includes tank water access.

Longevity of staff

A comforting issue for enrolling parents is the range of age of educators and the longevity of their continuing work at our centre. They express their relief feelings of seeing mature educators together with younger ones and: also hearing that some younger are parents as well. We do support our educators with a balanced home- work practice. For continuity, part-time educators often do extra shifts with addressing leave requirement. We aim to have familiar educators working on most occasions throughout the centre.

Community & social connections

Our centre displays gratitude from families with their provided gifts like our home-made coffee table. In family connection we have evolved names for of our environment with the Dalnan (peaceful/ calm) garden and Cavanbah room (meeting place). The preschool children lead our ‘Acknowledge to Country’ as a morning ritual and show pride in the process. We have resources that we can provide any family with tips from various therapists and we can refer children to community supports as required. We have been selected by ASPECT and Shaping Outcomes who worked alongside us in a learning progression for our educators and most importantly for connections with children.
