Teddy Bears Educational and Child Care Centre Philosophy

At Teddy Bears Educational and Childcare Centre our philosophy is focused on child led experiences with a holistic and flexible approach to the overall well-being of each individual child.  We recognise family as every child’s first and foremost teacher and therefore it is essential to build and maintain close reciprocal, respectful relationships with children, families and caregivers. We provide a safe and nurturing environment where all children can feel a strong sense of belonging. Children are naturally curious learners so our programs allow exploration and creativity to investigate their own learning styles through educational experiences which encourage independent thinking and processing. The National Quality Framework is the underpinning basis of our educational program and practice.

Corresponding to these socio-emotional principles of well-being we believe physical health is essential for children’s growth and development.  Our program includes elements of the NSW Munch and Move program which promotes health eating and physical activity.  Being active is vital for strong bodies and minds, especially in the early years of life.

Our natural play spaces enable children to experience the beauty of a natural environment alongside which our educators promote the importance of caring for the environment and sustainability practices such as recycling and water preservation. We believe that teaching children the importance of environmental care will help make our world a better place for future generations.

Our programs are inclusive of all children regardless of cultural heritage, ability or gender as we believe every child has a right to education (UNHCR). We acknowledge that our centre is built on Bundjalung land of the First Nations people and it is our mission to  respect the land on which we learn and grow.

Our educators and staff provide a warm, welcoming environment for all families and our enrolment orientation process is aimed to help them feel as though they belong right from the beginning. Children are taught to be respectful and inclusive of all who attend Teddy Bears
